When using Microsoft’s Text-to-Speech software, you can review prepared notes for a company meeting or lecture by having them read aloud to you directly on your PC. In addition, the program allows you to provide electronic text to employees or clients who are visually impaired. Microsoft’s Text-to-Speech software, however, provides only a handful of text-to-speech (TTS) voices, such as 'Microsoft Anna.' To add additional TTS voices, use a third-party service such as Cepstral, NaturalReader or ByteCool.
1.Navigate to a third-party site that offers text-to-speech voices for Windows, such as Cepstral, NaturalReader or ByteCool.
2.Download and install the TTS package for your operating system. Many companies offer different TTS packages for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.
3.Click Start and open the Control Panel. Click the “Ease of Access” link and then select “Speech Recognition.' Click the “Text to Speech” link in the navigation pane.
4.Click the “Voice Selection” drop-down menu and select one of the new, third-party voices you installed.
5.Click the “Preview Voice” button to listen to the TTS voice.
6.Click the “Apply” button to set it as the primary TTS voice.
